In 2003 Mercedes-Benz forged a new path in terms of design, sportiness, luxury and charisma with the launch of the CLS.
The new CLS skilfully builds on these characteristics, setting new standards in perfection, fascination and responsibility. The new design, evocative of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, combines unmistakable style with a cultivated sporty appeal, reinforced by the muscular styling of the rear end. The new CLS features new engines which consume significantly less fuel but deliver a higher output. The V6 draws its power from a displacement of 3499 cc, delivering 225 kW (306 hp) where the previous model with identical displacement delivered 200 kW/272 hp. Significant developments were also made to the new V8. The displacement was reduced by 15 percent (4663 instead of 5461 cc), but the vehicle delivers an output of 300 kW (408 hp) – 12 percent up on its predecessor (285 kW/388 hp).
